Young@Nor-Shipping 2015

Young professionals have always been an important part of the Nor-Shipping mix, and this was even more obvious at the 2015 event, thanks to the Young@Nor-Shipping program.

First held in 2013, it ensures that the interests and needs of those in the earlier stages of their career are met head on at the leading maritime event week.

In addition to hot-topic seminars and socializing, the program includes the Young Entrepreneur Award, which honors an under 40-year-old professional who has founded a successful company that tackles challenges or solutions in a new way. Thanks to winner Tor M. Østervold’s passion and enthusiasm, its presentation was a highlight of the Nor-Shipping 2013 Opening Conference.

The Young@Nor-Shipping initiative is a result of cooperation between Nor-Shipping and YoungShip, the fast-growing international non-profit organization for young professionals in shipping. The two organizations continue their formal partnership agreement, which began in 2012. The aim is to further develop Nor-Shipping as an arena for the next generation, stimulating collaboration and ensuring the resources to make that happen.

All maritime professionals, regardless of age, were welcome to visit the Young@Nor-Shipping social hub on Nor-Shipping Island, the centralized networking area for the Nor-Shipping event week. And students were not left out in the cold! They were welcome to join the program’s activities.
